Winter Experiences &

Does your business offer a winter experience? We are enhancing the on and off-mountain winter activities section of our consumer website as well as developing content for travel media, social media and travel trade.

We will also be including winter content in our 2018 Touring & Exploring Guide to shine the light on this region as a true winter destination that offers world-class on-snow activities.

KRT Launches regional Tourism Career Awareness Campaign
From challenges in finding skilled workers, employee housing crisis and poor perceptions of tourism as a prime source of employment and promising career opportunities, labour challenges are a real barrier to delivering outstanding visitor experience and growing our region as a world-class travel destination.

With the baby boomers rapid departure from the work force, combined with industry growth, labour shortages in our region are expected to increase drastically over the next few years. Kootenay Rockies Tourism is stepping up to address labour challenges in our region through a number of exciting initiatives and strategic partnerships.

The ‘Love Life. Love Work’ campaign is set to showcase the significant perks of working in tourism and hospitality in the Kootenay Rockies region and feature the diverse and promising career opportunities the industry offers as well as the very unique lifestyle, passionate community and rich mountain culture.

The campaign will drive web traffic to the Kootenay Rockies regional page on go2HR’s website where students and job seekers will access inspirational videos and stories, job postings, training and education opportunities and other resources such as career profiles, tips and tools to search and apply for jobs and more. Part of the campaign will also include a series of events to feature tourism and hospitality as a prime source of employment in the region.

go2HR’s Industry Health & Safety Specialists Designated to Tourism Regions in BC

Each BC tourism region will have a designated Industry Health and Safety Specialist available to assist tourism and hospitality employers with their occupational health and safety needs, announced January 23, 2017 by go2HR BC’s tourism industry human resource association.

Stephanie Mallalieu will be responsible for businesses and employers in the Kootenay Rockies region. She will be available to provide support and act as the go-to contact for help and resources on occupational health and safety, and the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program.
BC tourism and hospitality employers with fewer than 20 employees can now participate in the Certificate of Recognition Program (COR) that is specifically designed for them. It is an occupational health and safety audit, certification and incentive program, rewarding employers that go beyond the legal requirements by taking the ‘best practice’ approach to health and safety in the workplace.
