Kootenay Rockies Tourism is a regional representative of Tourism BC and a dedicated agent to support communities across the region to develop and promote tourism, and generate incremental visitation. My role as a Community Development Specialist is to: - work with Tourism BC and the community tourism organizations to implement the provincial programs – Community Tourism Foundations and Community Tourism Opportunities
- provide the communities with information on the regional and provincial resources available, promote opportunities and funding - initiate, enhance and maintain partnerships between the communities and with Kootenay Rockies Tourism in order to build a strong tourism destination. Who are the community tourism organizations we work with? Local tourism organizations could be destination marketing/management organizations (DMO), a chambers of commerce, business associations, local tourism advisory committees, local government council representatives, development corporations, First Nations or economic development officers.
